Who I Am

Abdullah Mohammed

@M2KX

DevOpsPlatform Eng

I'm a DevOps engineer in Baghdad, Iraq. I build and operate production infrastructure end-to-end — from a bare-metal Kubernetes platform serving a national ministry to AWS architectures that absorbed 750,000 logins in five minutes.

I started in QA, moved through technical support and system administration, and now run platforms for government-scale systems: Kubernetes and Patroni HA on bare metal, GitOps with ArgoCD, and national platforms on AWS and GCP. I believe great infrastructure is invisible — it just works, and someone made sure of it.

9-node production Kubernetes — bootstrapped from bare VMs

750K logins absorbed in 5 minutes on AWS, zero downtime

10+ apps in production, serving ~70 universities

GitOps everywhere — ArgoCD, Helm, no kubectl-to-prod

PostgreSQL HA (Patroni), Keycloak IAM, hardened Linux

On-call for national-scale systems — and still sleeping fine

Feb 2026 – PresentLightring

DevOps Engineer (Contract)

Sole platform engineer for a national higher-education ministry platform: designed and bootstrapped a 9-node Kubernetes cluster + 3-node Patroni PostgreSQL HA from bare VMs, and operate 10+ production applications with GitOps (ArgoCD, Helm).

Aug 2025 – PresentNass Al-Iraq Holding

DevOps Engineer

AWS and on-premise infrastructure for national-scale government platforms — including an exam-results architecture that absorbed 750K logins in 5 minutes. CI/CD in GitLab CI and Jenkins, self-hosted GitLab migration, monitoring stacks.

System Administrator

Administered Linux servers, web and mail infrastructure (Mailcow, ~25 domains), BIND9 DNS, and databases — then automated my way into the DevOps role.

Dec 2023 – Jan 2025EarthLink Telecommunications

Technical Support Quality Analyst

Audited support quality against SLAs, produced monthly leadership reviews, and extended the company's Odoo ERP with custom Django modules.

Aug 2023 – Feb 2024Health 360

Junior Software QA Engineer

Frontend and API testing (Postman), deployments to development servers, and bug triage — where the infrastructure curiosity started.

Case study

Case study — bare VMs to a ministry's production platform in under 30 days

Sole platform engineer for a national higher-education ministry. Bootstrapped 12 unprovisioned VMs into a 9-node Kubernetes cluster with a dedicated 3-node Patroni PostgreSQL HA cluster — networking, OS, and users included. Runs 10+ production applications for ~70 universities with GitOps delivery (ArgoCD + Helm), Longhorn storage, Keycloak IAM, and full observability. No managed services, no safety net.

750K Logins in 5 Minutes

Case study

Case study — AWS architecture for a national exam-results release

Iraq's first fully digital national exam-results release — replacing published PDFs. Static frontend on S3 + CloudFront, backend EC2 Auto Scaling Group with a 65% scale-out threshold, and autoscaling RDS PostgreSQL. When the ministry says 'results are live', the entire country arrives at once: 750,000 successful logins (Redis-verified) in the first five minutes. Six national release cycles, zero downtime.

CISH — Automated Server Deployment Helper

Interactive shell script for full-stack server setup & CI/CD generation

A single interactive shell script that automates end-to-end server deployment. Detects your stack (Docker, Node.js, Go, .NET), installs dependencies, sets up systemd services, configures Caddy reverse proxy with auto-HTTPS, and generates GitHub Actions or GitLab CI pipelines — all in one run.
